Southport & Formby Health supports Queenscourt Hospice

Southport and Formby Health is supporting Queenscourt Hospice, by donating funds that will buy two new dementia-friendly beds.

The beds, costing £3,000 each, are specially adapted to suit the needs of people suffering from dementia. With an extra low height and increased ease of access, they reduce the risk of injury as well as improving overall safety and comfort.

Dr Abdul Zubairu, Medical Director of Southport and Formby Health, said: “As local GPs, we are delighted to support Queenscourt Hospice in this way. Our Federation is committed to enhancing access to GP services and improving the health facilities available to local people.”

Helen Birch, Director of Nursing Services at Queenscourt Hospice said: “Queenscourt is dependent on donations for over 80% of the funding we need in order to run the hospice and to continue delivering an exceptional level of care for local people when they need us the most. We are therefore delighted to accept the very generous donation from Southport and Formby Health, which will help us to continue caring for patients with life-limiting illnesses, including those who are suffering with dementia."
